An email the boss consequently sent out:

Subject: Emergency “meeting” tonight

All team members are require to attend a mandatory “meeting” tonight.

The health department came to the café and we are in serious violation for having a filthy café.

All team members are required to come to the café for at least an hour tonight to help correct our violations or we will be shut down by the department of health.

The floors are filthy, the sinks are dirty, the dirty towels were not put in bleach water over the long break and there are fruit flies now.

Since being messy is a team problem, the entire team needs to come together and fix the problem before the health department comes back tomorrow.

We will have this cleaning “meeting” tonight from 7pm-midnight. We will close the café at 9pm and spend the rest of the night cleaning.

You will be paid for your time tonight and everyone must help clean for at least one hour. If you don’t show up tonight you will not be a part of the team any longer.
