It’s unfortunate, you know. I killed firefox.exe, and it restored a really old set of tabs. Useless to me now. An attempted reconstruction now follows.

When Firefox has more than twenty tabs open, largely to list notable things for later posting, … something. There’s got to be a conclusion to that.

An abbreviated list, then. President To Investigate Where Laundry Chute Goes (Onion Radio News – an excellent episode). Honda’s 1981 Electro Gyrocator (early dashboard nav system). Robot Key Charm (bit of a steampunk feel to it). And A Server Named Emo, once again (redesign… :/ not much).

Also, an excellent example of Tasteless Advertising: Pheroline.

to those opposing The Golden Compass, specifically the 99k on Facebook

You have the right to oppose, yeah. And if you’ve read the book and considered Pullman’s comments verbatim before choosing sides, well done. You have my utmost respect.

But if you hear that the book is about killing God and immediately start making picket signs… >_>

Though, I reconsider. If you actually start making picket signs, that’s one thing. Your mindset is alarmingly close to that of Fred Phelps, and I recommend that you avoid the media for this reason.

The vast majority of you, I would guess, have not only not read the book, but have simply added a tally to the petition because a friend invited you. After all, it only takes a single click to choose sides. Do NOT support “The Golden Compass” (sic), where the operative word is in caps to remove all doubt concerning which side you should be on. And with more than 98 thousand members, how can they be wrong?

>_> This upsets me.

They might be right, it’s true. But I very much doubt that there is a single “right” in this scenario. If I remember the book at all (it’s been a few years), it’s an exemplary work of fiction. It decries corrupt organized religion, it’s quite true. And while this is enough to set the activists aflame (the same ones who interpreted The Passion Of The Christ as an anti-Jew documentary – read the bleeding subtitles…)… Honestly.

To those who out of hand refuse to see the film or read the book: I hesitate to call you a fool (collectively), as you may have valid reasons. Sweeping generalizations have no place in this. Though do consider this (please) – there’s a difference between observing heresy and taking part in it. Thus, it is hardly a sin to read the book in order to evaluate it. Nor, I would argue, is it evil to attend a rave – the difference lies in whether or not you’re actually taking the pill. Seeing the film is not equivocal to rejecting God. I promise.

closing double entendre
It’s icy out. Don’t slip.
