forty two and overcast

Tuesday March 18, 2008

Tuesday’s coming. Did you bring your coat?

Something about a bucket. And living in it. I live in a giant bucket. …

Spring break is now, and honestly, it’s nice to just stay in once place. All due respect to you who are in warmer climes (what a strange word), but there is nothing here to distract me from sleep. Ha.

Actually, that’s a lie. My checking account is in dire straits, school finances have reared their ugly but potentially valuable collective head, friends are breaking up, family and friend-family are sick and dying… bah. And all that jazz.

Which, fortunately, set the stage for some much-needed upgrades to Zunebug. I used to play the piano to unwind; apparently now I write code. I blame that on IIT.

new music day

absolutepunk.net – probably one of the better alternative music sites. Reviews and samples and news, oh my. With Ruckus and SoundTaxi finally playing well together, twas time to expand the collection a bit.

  • Mae: The Everglow, Destination: B-Sides (will be playing some music from the latter at Calah Mae’s wedding, if all goes well)
  • The Academy Is…: Almost Here, Santi
  • Murder By Death: Red Of Tooth And Nail (rock band meets ren fair – worth checking out)
  • Papa Roach: The Paramour Sessions
  • Starting Tuesday: Starting Tuesday (these guys have since taken the name The War, and approach the level of Switchfoot and Skillet)
  • My Chemical Romance: The Black Parade, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge
  • Ima Robot: Monument To The Masses
  • Black Lab: Your Body Above Me

(Because yes, I know, you’re wildly curious about my music library.)

and the job search continues

The chief difficulty is that I can’t work full time. I’m employable, and if I had a bachelor’s on my resume I could reasonably apply at Encyclopedia Britannica... Ah well. Eventually.

Back to the bucket. >_> (And the little bird-shaped thing up there is from davide77. Credit where credit is due.)
